Meaningful Beauty not as advertized

I ordered the 30-day trial after watching the TV infomercial. Used it, liked it and then ordered the 90-day system along with some additional items. Was told even though they state on the website that Preferred Customers can customize their kit, their customer service told me that despite it being a Canadian website I was ordering off of, Canadian Customers are not allowed to change the content of their kit. They have to take the basic kit as is, either the 30 or 90-day system, and then any additional items you want will be billed & shipped separately. So much for being able to "customize" your system. I call that false advertising. I've cancelled my account as of July 16/13 with Kimberly who was not very polite and asked that they not send me any more automatic shipments. After reading these reviews, I'm nervous they will continue to bill me.

I tried and tried to cancel my Meaningful Beauty membership; finally I just cancelled my credit card. That seems to be the only way to deal with these snarky companies.

A couple of thoughts:

1. Never, ever use a debit card when ordering online or just about anywhere. As you have discovered, once they debit your account, you are out the money and getting it back can be next to impossible. Always use a credit card. With a credit card you can dispute the charge and not have to pay it till they make the order right.

2. Most products sold via a television ad are cheaply made, do not last and are over-priced. Never do this. You can find "ad seen on TV" products at stores like Meijer, WalMart, etc. I am seeing them more and more.

3. I suspect when you ordered this junk you were automatically enrolled in a monthly/periodic shipment of more of the junk. Watch your bank balance for any charges next month. Even if they send the stuff you just ordered, you may find charges for auto orders each month. If so and you don't want them, either contact the company and cancel---which they may not do for a while, if ever as they have your debit card/bank info---or contact your bank and tell them fraud is suspected and you need a totally new account and card. Or, better yet, get a credit card and destroy that debit card.

4. This is how we learn.

Meaningful Beauty - Cancelled and they still charged my accont

I cancelled the Meaningful Beauty account back in March and spoke to a really nice gal. Thought everything was done. I even paid up the remaining money that was billed to me. Well in June they sent another box. Called again and spoke to a very nice woman named Melissa who said "Oh, I see you called back in March and cancelled. I will take care of this. I will also mail you a label to return the box and credit your bank account." Great.. I thought. So, 2 weeks later I am still waiting for this label. So I call AGAIN and speak with a VERY rude man named Tom who said " I CLAIMED to cancel back in March" CLAIMED??? WTF! Obviously he did not know how to deal with customers or read. He was very rude and said he would refund the remaining money to my account since they shorted me the shipping and handling of 9.99 and the label takes 2-3 weeks and then he rudely said "thank you for calling meaningful beauty...blah blah" to get me off the phone. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! Go to Ulta or Macys and get a good product or even Sephora!

Thank you for your review. I was thinking of buying this product but now I won't.

Too many people are unhappy with MB.I make it a practice to search out reviews before buying anything online. It has saved me alot of time and money :)

Meaningful Beauty

I canceled my card so they going to charge just the f. $45,00. Guys... I just did the same mistake. I understood that if I called than to cancel it's going to be easy. I tried to call my bank to cancel. They told me that's impossible. But I had an idea. I canceled my card so they going to charge just the f. $45,00. I know that still bad but.. It was better than loose more. For me at least I learned to always look at the reviews before. I'm very *** sometimes. Thank you! Let's be more smart that is no way to be youth forever :(

Meaningful Beauty - Scam!!!

I just ordered from the Meaningful Beauty website for a gift and no where did it tell me it would be a recurring charge on my account monthly. I didn't find this out until my confirmation was sent. I then called to cancel the order and they told me that they couldn't cancel it even though I placed it minutes beforehand because it's not in their system for 24 to 48 hours and at that my only option was to ship it back when I receive it. That is UNBELIEVABLE. Worst customer service ever!!! I will post this on every site I can find until I get my order cancelled and credited to my bank account. SCAM!!!!!

Meaningful Beauty - Taking money out of my complaint (06/27/2013), after canceling in May 2013.

I canceled my account in May 2013. The infomercial states cancel, within 60 days, and get a full refund at no cost to me. It took 10 days to get a return address label (unbelievable in this day and time). I mailed back the product over a week ago, and I'm being told that you have not received the product, it is over 60 days for a refund, and this is why money was withdrawn from my account. Despite canceling way before 60 days. Your infomercial spoke up all the wonders of satisfaction guaranteed. No problems. Now, not only do I have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for the refund (that I was due when I canceled), but also for money taken out of my account, after I canceled. I thought anything Cindy Crawford had to be "legit". This is unexpected and have caused my account (social security) to fall short of my debts this month. You should not have taken money out of my account, after I canceled. If I had to wait 10 days for a return label, then you should have waited 10 days to receive the product back, before stealing my money. My sister Hope Breaux will be warned of your trickery, and when she return her product it should be paid, by her, next day delivery and signed for. Anyone that she has recommended will also be contacted, as well, with the same warnings. I may not be able to afford a lawyer, but I am going to tell my story, starting today, to any lawyer that may take an interest. I want that $ 49.95 back in my account. The other monies should soon follow. Ms. Crawford has lost "All Integrity" with me. Her word is not what I expected. I'm pissed, flabbergasted, and will be in debt behind, money that was already ear marked for necessities attained earlier this month. I want my money.

I did not mean to hit "***" which I did by accident. I agree with this pissed consumer.

The product is nice, however, the way they get money from you is deceptive and hides the real cost of the product. They sent me a package months and months after I cancelled; also if you open the label just to see what it is, even out of curiousity, suddenly you have to pay shipping costs to have it returned.

What a mess. They are still sending me collection notices for around $50 which I refuse to pay.

They sure know how to get you.

I am cancelling everything today, but I do need the address. Thanks you!

Dan,

Did you ever get the address? I need it too.

The slip that came with the box of product said the return address was on the invoice but I can't find mine.

If you still have yours you can look there. If you could share that info with me I would appreciate it.

You sound ignorant & lack some common sense as well as knowledge of how basic businesses are conducted. If your money was already earmarked for something else and you're so tightly budgeted & you'd be in debt if this money gets debited from your account, then you should never have gambled on a purchase with no money.

No lawyer will think you have a case and if they do, you need to verify his/her legitimacy. I've never tried MB but I have tried other products from Guthy Renker for 7 plus years and never once had issues. With all businesses, whether it be via in person, phone or Internet, a reasonable amount of time must be included for transactions to occur. No business will refund your money without getting their product back.

If they did, the business would be opening themselves up for failure as customers would take advantage and commit reverse frauds. The businesses also have to protect themselves. If you weere to return something at Walmart or other stores, do you expect a refund with no returning product placed back in their hands?? Well, it's the same concept.

Yes, things are fast this day in age but when you return a physical product through the mail system (any company), its not instant like the Internet, someone physically has to transport the item. I think you're ticked off because you failed to consider common sense and had bought something when you're broke. I think you were trying to pull a fast one by getting something free. let me guess, the bottles were emptied when you sent it back?!

no need to lie.

Next time, don't purchase something when you're broke!! Ignorant people irritate the hck out of me!

Well, I've cancelled auto ship products well in advance myself, and still received them (along with a charge). The whole concept of automatically shipping a product every month is a scam, IMO. There should be an option to just order what you like, when you like.

Meaningful Beauty - Very poor customer service

I Had a very similar experience - I purchased Meaningful Beauty over the phone after watching the TV ad that leads you to believe is what the product costs $39.95. I spoke with a customer service representative who assured me that was the cost and I could cancel at any time. I did not like the product, so I called them to cancel my order and that when they inform me that they will continue to bill me each month thereafter. Both the TV commerial and the customer service reprentatives misled me about that being a one time deal. I did not check the webpage to hunt for fine print. You would expect the customer service representative to inform you about the actual cost of a product. So now I am stuck with having to pay for a product which I do not like!!! This company is obviously not very confident of their products to have to stoop to such deceptive marketing methods. Not a great product and disgusting marketing gimmicks.

Meaningful Beauty - It's not the product, it's the customer service

I got the initial shipment and used the product. Got the second shipment and started to see some nice results. I ran out of the product and called to get it shipped priority and they said it was already processed and would take 3 more weeks to get to me. I am out of product!! Their scripts and customer service people were not accommodating. They acted like they would ship it earlier and then said it would take 2 weeks and 2 days. WOO HOO I was going to get it 6 days earlier and I am still out of product! Cancelled my subscription immediately and now looking for similar products without all of the red tape!

Meaningful Beauty Products

I ordered the Meaningful Beauty products back in March 2013 to be auto shipped every three months. The initial products sent to me were all broken and the cream spilled all over me. I contacted their Consumer Service Department and they told me to throw the items out and that they would send me a replacement. Several weeks went by and still no replacement. I called them again and they promised to ship out a new order. I again waited several weeks but still no product. I called them again and they told me that they sent it out so I again waited two weeks and still no product. I tried to cancel my order which is being fought with my credit card company because they will not refund me my monies.

Meaningful Beauty - Cost is too high

I ordered this product for the $39,95 plus S&H. I did enjoy the product and could see some improvement of my skin. However one month later instead of receiving another supply of Meaningful Beauty I received a bill for outstanding balance of $96.00. When I called I was informed that the order was correct and that I still owed the balance. I was disappointed that insteadof $39.95 it cost $150.00 . I ran out of the some of the products before the 3mos. I called and cancelled the order. The gentleman I spoke with was helpful and did cancel my order. Again I found the products to be good but monthly cost was almost double for what I got.

Meaningful Beauty Customer Services is NOT Responsive at all

I am really pissed off with the way this company handles their accounts. To make the long story short, I had an account issue and was told that information contained in my invoice is wrong and should be disregarded. I asked for email confirmation; they said 'No, we can't send you any email." How do I know we this won't happen in future orders? They just want me to rely on our phone conversation with nothing in writing, not even an email. I asked for my account to be cancelled and it's been a week now with no confirmation. I sent them an email, no response. Is this the best way to handle customer issues? Unless, their products is a matter of life or death for me, I would not recommend it at all. And, I would not recommend anything marketed by the same company which I heard is Guthy Renker.

Meaningful Beauty - Refused order I didn't place too late

I had ordered their beginning package(doesn't work) so I didn't select anything to renew my package. They sent me something apparently worth about $150 and deducted $56 from a debit visa account(since closed). I didn't know this had transpired until I went to use this card much later. So I watched for this *** in the mail not knowing that it had already arrived and my brother had found it and brought it in when visiting. He put it in my office so I assumed it was a box of something he had. Anyway I refused it and sent it back but now they are saying it is void and I not only don't have their *** product, out $56. they still are billing me for another $93. Does anyone know if there is a class action suit against them yet? There is another company does the same thing and there is a suit against them.

I have had nothing but great results so far with Meaningful Beauty. Only issue I have is how slow the delivery is. But if you're smart you'll order in advance - think in advance about what you'll need - and order accordingly.

As for them double charging people. Charging different charges. There are DIFFERENT prices on the order forms. Member price and non-member. PLUS delivery and taxes. Do the math yourself properly before ordering so you're not alarmed and double check that the math/charges are accurate before giving up your credit card number. And you CAN say you DONT WANT automatic delivery, automatic replacement, whatever. You can do 1 time ordering as I do.

Im not saying they haven't screwed up with people. Im sure they have and Id be pissed off too. But monitor your accounts. Dispute charges directly with your credit company first before calling MB. And again talk to the rep on the phone about your order before the go ahead and placement. Nip it in the bud before *** happens.

Finally why would anyone bother with a class action lawsuit over $90 bucks? Seriously? I mean yeah Id be mad too. But to waste time over $90 bucks. It'll cost more then $90 in time, energy and money with a lawyer.

And MB obviously won't work on everyone. Everyones skin is different. It works fabulous on me. But it may not on you. And vice versa. What works on you may not on me. Thats why there is so much selection on the market. Age, diet, genetics all play a part. So don't put down the product just because it doesn't work on you. Try something else.

I feel bad people have had money issues with the company. It sucks and I hope it works out for everyone. Luckily it hasn't happened to me. But all I know is I DOUBLE check the charge with the rep on the phone when Im placing the order. I DOUBLE check my CC Card to ensure theres no issue. And if there IS/WAS I then deal with it.

KP :)

Meaningful Beauty - Cancelation

I tried canceling my acct and was told I could not since the product was shipped Mon. I had to call back a 2nd time to make sure I would not be billed $138.00 over 3 months. I was also told I would not get a cancelation email for 48 hrs. I do like the product but have only used it a few times. This product is not easy to cancel. I hope my shipment arrives since I have been billed for it. Also since I have canceled I am not eligible for in future discounts if I decide to reorder the product.
